Camp Woodland and Catskill Folk Music

From 1939 to 1962, the camp operated in the Woodland Valley outside of Phoenicia and was a gathering place for local musicians, storytellers and artisans who participated in musical and dramatic performances that celebrated the cultural resources of the region. Bill Horne, author of The Improbable Community, a book about Camp Woodland, and folk musician Pat Lamanna, an alumna of the camp, along with other local musicians, will present a program of live music based on songs collected in the Catskills, and recount the preservation efforts of Camp Woodland.
