Gravestone and Cemetery Care

Interesting and Beneficial To All Rural Communities

Sunday, March 24th, 1 p.m. at the Time and the Valleys Museum – A unique program is coming up at the Time and the Valleys – Gravestone and Cemetery Care by Marianne Greenfield of Gravestone Cleaning Service. This program will be interesting and beneficial to all communities to help them properly care for their small, sometimes neglected rural cemeteries.


Various aspects of gravestone and cemetery conservation, restoration and preservation topics will be covered, including information from the NYS Division of Cemeteries regarding the rules and regulations governing most cemeteries. Information on local Town of Neversink and Town of Denning cemeteries will be presented and Anne-Marie Kremer of Claryville will give a short presentation on the Claryville Cemetery.

The program is free for Museum members and $5 for non-members, which includes light refreshments and Museum admission.

About Marianne Greenfield: Marianne Greenfield is the owner of Gravestone Cleaning Service and trained in gravestone and monument conservation. A twenty-three year member of the Association for Gravestone Studies, she leads gravestone cleaning and resetting workshops and cemetery walking tours for groups interested in historic gravestone and cemetery restoration and preservation.
